Yep. it's getting close to hunting season in Michigan.  So Saturday the 15th, UFO will be hosting a D and Under Fencing Tourney.  It's looking to be a pretty good crowd, so come on out and fence.

We've tried and the Michigan fall weather has defeated us.  No corn maze this year for UFO as a group.  If you make it out on your own, please let us know how it was.

OK, due to rain we are trying this again Friday the 30th.  RSVP if you are going to be there.  We'll be meeting at 6 PM at the maze this time.

This is the event where we tease Ben about being from Wisconsin and their unhappy cows.  Foil is a C and Under event with both Woman's and Mixed events.  Epee is a Mixed Open Event.

A few of you have expressed an interest in an Armory Clinic.    We'll hold one Monday, October 26th at 7 PM.  Regular floor fees apply.  We'll cover the basics of your electrical weapon and some basic strip side fixes.  We'll also go over re-wiring a blade and some of the common mistakes made.  Bring a weapon or body cord in need of repair.  If you have your own precision screwdrivers, you may want to bring them, most of ours have wandered off in the last few months.  Show up a few minutes early if you need to buy wires or screws.

The Rem is October 17th and 18th.  This year you must pre-pay your registration fee.  UFO will be putting together an envelope and sending it off October 7th, certified mail.  So if you are planning on going and want to send your fees as a group, have everything ready on Tuesday the 6th.

I am looking at booking rooms.  There are a couple options, the cheapest seems to be $80/night for double beds at the Extended Stay in Skokie.

UFO has a car/caravan heading out Friday evening and returning Monday afternoon.  Please let us know if you are interested in traveling with us.

Took my mom to Wasem http://wasemfruitfarm.com/index.html yesterday - the donuts and cider are in top shape again this year (though alas the cinnamon sugar covered apple donuts were sold out!)  Did not make her cane around the corn maze but that looks plenty tall enough too now.

Looking at the tournament schedule, we might be best off doing a Friday evening again - last year the able-to-arrive-before-6 (when Wasem closes) crowd got enough cider and donuts to feed the can't-escape-work-quite-so-early crowd.  We definitely need to pick a time when Erica is off work!

Last year UFO went out to a corn maze and had a great time.  We are planning on doing this again.  The maze is at Talladay Farms.  http://www.talladayfarms.com/

This year's theme is dinosaurs.

We usually meet at Wasem Fruit Farm next door to get doughnuts, apples and cider to snack on pre-maze.  We start the maze when it gets dark and wander aimlessly until Erica finds us and leads us through.

We haven't picked a day, post here or e-mail us with your preferences.

UFO is planning on taking a group out.  Probably leaving Friday, late afternoon and coming back Monday during the day.

I'll have hotel info posted soon.

Who is thinking of attending the 2009 Remenyik?  Although I was planning on attending this year, the primary purpose was to see old friends, and I don't want to endure the hassle and expense of air travel just to fence.
